Auto-Heal documentation is outdated. #57818

Closed lerlacher-haylix closed 3 months ago

lerlacher-haylix commented 4 years ago

The authoritative documentation for Proactive Auto-Heal is a blog post from August 2017 (https://azure.github.io/AppService/2017/08/17/Introducing-Proactive-Auto-Heal.html linked from the Diagnostics documentation page).

We have observed Proactive Auto-Heal behavior that does not fit what is described in the blog post, and when engaging Azure support they are not able to offer any further information when we ask for details on the metrics, algorithms and trigger points used by Proactive Auto-Heal.

The Proactive Auto-Heal documentation needs to be reviewed and updated.

Hi @SnehaAgrawal-MSFT - the following problems exist:

This does not provide the required confidence to utilize Auto-Heal features.

With Proactive Auto-Heal we have specifically seen high memory conditions in apps where proactive auto-heal did not trigger at the point we expected it to happen based on the private bytes metrics and proactive auto-heal documentation, leading us to suspect that the documentation is not accurate.
