@santhoshbomma9 Thank you for the detailed feedback. We are actively investigating and will get back to you soon.

@santhoshbomma9 Hyperscale (Citus) supports automated backup enabled on each (Coordinator as well as Worker) node throughout the cluster lifecycle, and replicated to three availability zones in Azure regions. So no need to set DR region manually.

Please refer to the below articles for more details around it: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/postgresql/concepts-hyperscale-backup https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/updates/hyperscale-citus-backup-now-supports-availability-zones/ https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/postgresql/concepts-hyperscale-high-availability

Please let us know if that answers your query or else we will gladly continue the discussion.

Thank you for the prompt response @AnuragSharma-MSFT. So simply putting it, there is no way for to manually select a DR region(if I want to) for HyperScale(Citus) version unlike the Single-Server version of Azure Database for PostgreSQL.

AnuragSharma-MSFT commented 4 years ago

@santhoshbomma9 As per the discussion, there is no manual way to select a DR region currently for Hyperscale(Citus). We can leverage Azure PostgreSQL Single server for the same.

We will now proceed to close this thread. If there are further questions regarding this matter, please comment and we will gladly continue the discussion.
