Azure SQL Backups - PiTR #68676

This section is wrong:

Backup retention

For all new, restored, and copied databases, Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance retain sufficient backups to allow PITR within the last 7 days by default. With the exception of Hyperscale databases, you can change backup retention period per each active database in the 1-35 day range.

When trying to set the PiTR length for a Basic DTU database to 35 days I get the following error "updating retention policies The retention days of 35 is not a valid configuration. Valid backup retention in days must be between 1 and 7"

I don't see anywhere on the official MS documentation where it states that a Basic tier database only allows up to 7 days, but I found an MS blog which stated this. Would really like the MS documentation to actually describe this limitation (7 day max PiTR not described on the Azure cost calculator either).

@thedarkfalcon Thanks for reaching out to us. I have updated and checked in automated backup page with information about basic tier. Online docs should get an update by tomorrow. Meanwhile, the information about basic tier is documented here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-sql/database/service-tiers-general-purpose-business-critical

Thanks, shreya
