Migration to a new tenant #69591

Can you migrate a Recovery Services vault used by MABS to a new subscription in a new tenant (and continue to use the backups) if you first migrate to a subscription in the same tenant and then migrate that subscription to a new tenant?

@wcneumann219 A subscription containing RS vault can be moved to a different tenant with following conditions: • If vault does not have CMK (customer managed keys) configured, it will not have any impact on backup/restore functionality • If vault does use CMK, then vault will need to be updated to re-create and re-configure vault managed identity and CMK (which should be in new tenant) otherwise backups/restore would start failing • Any RBAC permissions setup within the subscription will need to be re-configured

Hi,

No, I’m good. Do you plan to update the article to add a caveat that says while you need to be in the same tenant to migrate to a new subscription, one can migrate a Recovery Services subscription to a new tenant and retain access to the existing backups—so long as…?
