MS Learn Sandbox - Unauthorized Sandbox use detected. Your sandbox has been terminated. #1797

Open tbuckingham1 opened 4 years ago

tbuckingham1 commented 4 years ago

I am running into an issue with the MS Learn Sandbox environment. I am receiving the following message when attempting to create a sessions "Unauthorized Sandbox use detected. Your sandbox has been terminated." I've only seen one article that says it may be because of "abuse" of MS learn offerings .

Not sure what the issue is as I have simply been walking through the Azure Engineer course each day. The Sandbox has been finicky as it is anyways. Any input/resolution on this issue?

Thanks,

TB

Hi tbuckingham1, I (and some others) are experiencing similar issues which 'evolved' into a terminated sandbox. Take a look at the issue below. https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/feedback/issues/1777

StanislavUshakov commented 4 years ago

I have the same issue could you please provide any feedback regarding this.

tbuckingham1 commented 4 years ago

Still no resolution on this issue

A recent spike in sandbox abuses has led us to issue bans to a selected number of users. If you have been incorrectly affected by this, we apologize. We are rolling out an appeals process shortly by which you will be able to re-instate your account. We thank you for your patience during this process.

Soruk commented 4 years ago

Hi,

Since yesterday i have the same issue (on Sunday I was learning a lot and I activated couples of times the sandbox). I made a feedback using the link from the MS Learn Web Site but no confirmation received that it was created.

nightcat27 commented 4 years ago

Hi,

Do we have a rough ETA on when this will be sorted?

acorbos commented 4 years ago

I have the same problem and waiting impaciently to be able to continue with the learn path.

Zailef commented 4 years ago

FYI there's been an update from MS on Twitter regarding this issue. Looks like we'll get access to some of the affected azure learning services as early as next week.

Here's the Tweet

This is a different issue. On one side they stopped some sandboxes, there you have an error of type "temporarily unavailable" or similar; on the other side they banned some users (like me) because they suspect abuse. My "abuse" was to have passed a quite large number od learning exercises recently. Maybe MS should use their own Azure AI to make the difference between abusers and regular learners?

Soruk commented 4 years ago

Hi, there is an update about this issue accordingly to this Tweet

MegoCs commented 4 years ago

@sadadow , i got this message after i tried to use the same sandbox for different learning activity. what would happen to my profile and my learning activity!! how can we remove that temporary ban !

Zailef commented 4 years ago

@sadadow @mairaw Is there any information on when the appeals process will be available and how it will work? It would be great to get this resolved so that I and many others can continue our Azure learning.

@Zailef Excellent question, I would like to hear the answer very much. However, don't be surprised if your question will go unaddressed.

A couple of other users and myself in another thread with similar issues, never got any reaction at all. I am sure the good people at Microsoft are working on this issue, it's just that we probably won't hear it, till the issue is solved. I can only speak for myself, but I was very fanatic and driven doing all the modules and labs, but now I am like... meh

Zailef commented 4 years ago

Appeals appear to be up now. Where the 'Unauthorized Sandbox use detected...' message appears there is a button labelled 'Appeal'. Once you click it, you get a message as shown below.

Hopefully they unban most of us 😄

Hopefully they unban most of us 😄 Its more than 3 days but no change in this Many in my company got this error, we started a challenge to see who scores max points now most of us are stuck due to non-availability of sandbox

mairaw commented 4 years ago

@yunyunyunyun can you please comment on this?

yunyunyunyun commented 4 years ago

sorry for the trouble @cabhilash, we fixed a bug in our system today which used to cause some good users to be banned, so hopefully less good users will be banned incorrectly in the future. And we have reviewed all the appeal tickets today, but some cases are still in the process of changing the appeal status. By end of tomorrow, you should be able to check the appeal process.

Hodori88 commented 4 years ago

@yunyunyunyun How will the people who appealed know the result? Will we recieve an email? I have been trying to activate the sandbox almost every day since I appealed (roughly a week ago).

mcurko commented 4 years ago

Try today, I made it an hour ago.

Hodori88 commented 4 years ago

@mcurko Thanks for letting me know. Good for you. I've halted my Azure Administrator Certification prep for over a month by now, because of the sandbox problems. I am very eager to get going again.

MegoCs commented 4 years ago

@mcurko , i have submitted an appeal and it works for some days then today i i got a new un authorized access message asking me to send an appeal again and i didn't make any unauthorized actions !!

yunyunyunyun commented 4 years ago

@Hodori88, if your appeal is approved, you won't get an email, when you activate sandbox again, you will just be able to activate it. We have approved all the good users's appeal tickets. Can you activate sandbox now? Let me know your email address if you still can't activate sandbox. and @mcurko , our system might again detect some of your activity which the system thinks not good . Let me know your email address, I can investigate your case.

MegoCs commented 4 years ago

@yunyunyunyun Could you please check my case my email is "MegoCs@Hotmail.com" i didn't make any unauthorized actions and i have a pay as you go subscription linked to my learning account. i just tryied to create the service from the portal rather than azure cli in learning module as it was giving me faild to acquire shell session number of active users is more than 352, so i tried to continue the module by creating the service via the portal !!! then today i recived that "unauthorized access " message and opened a new appeal !!! Could you please check that !

yunyunyunyun commented 4 years ago

@MegoCs , sorry for your issue. I checked your account and I have told team to un-ban you again. And to prevent you getting banned again, I will work with team to adjust the banning rule.

MegoCs commented 4 years ago

@yunyunyunyun appreciate your support.

yunyunyunyun commented 4 years ago

@MegoCs, try again, you should be able to activate sandbox now.

mcurko commented 4 years ago

MS, please fix the time zone issue. "You have used all 4 sandboxes for today. More sandboxes will be available tomorrow." I swear it's my first sandbox today, it's 9AM where I am!

yunyunyunyun commented 4 years ago

@mcurko, the time is not a calendar day due to different time zones, it's calculated the last 24 hours.

mairaw commented 4 years ago

@yunyunyunyun would it be better to say in the last 24 hours then? Might be more clear to customers.

mathieuvannoo commented 4 years ago

@yunyunyunyun

Hi,

I'm facing the same issue and can't seem to find a workaround. I need to progress in this Microsoft Learn set of labs for the purpose of a course I am taking at work and without the ability to create sandboxes, I can't move forward in the course.

Please help!

fremont-holt commented 4 years ago

This happened to me the first time using my account...not sure what I did! O_o

dannil commented 4 years ago

I also have this issue, even though I only used the sandbox for completing exercises contained in the "Learning path for Azure Developer", any feedback would be appreciated.

alvaro212 commented 4 years ago

Never used any sandbox before and I get the "Unauthorized Sandbox use detected..." message too. First, I tried to use my employer's subscription but there seems to be too many people using the training sandboxes in my same region. I created a subscription under my name and different email account, pay-as-you-go, and on that one I get the "Unauthorized Sandbox use detected..." message. Did click on Appeal but it will take up to three days to get approved. Something seems wrong or perhaps they a running over capacity on these sandboxes. It'd be great if someone can look at this issue, seems to be affecting a lot of people.

vivekp-ma commented 4 years ago

@yunyunyunyun I also face the same issue with sandbox since yesterday. Will you be able to review my appeal and unlock sandbox?

tlaw876 commented 4 years ago

I am also getting this, having done nothing but follow the exercises in the on-line learning path. Sandbox was working initially, but now now it always fails with the Unauthorized error. I have selected the Appeal button several times, but nothing comes of it. Can someone unlock my learning account please? Thx

omerocaks commented 4 years ago

This issue will be fixed for everyone soon, Microsoft engineering team is looking into this.

WaghDhirajAccy commented 4 years ago

Hi Support Team,

I was going through below module for Azure Learning but facing problem while activating Sandbox Exercise - Create a website hosted in Azure

It says : Your appeal has been received. Appeals are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis, and may take several days to process. If your appeal is approved, you will regain access to sandboxes and other interactive learning resources. For more information, please check the troubleshooting guidance page.

Can someone please check it since need to complete the certification at the earliest My Microsoft account : waghdhiraj009@outlook.com

I will kindly ask your help to check an UNBAN my sandbox account. Can you please help? My mail is du_abreu@hotmail.com Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I am also suffering the same situation. I was doing the module "Host a web application with Azure App service" on my personal account, and was immediately denied access to a sandbox account from the first moment I tried it. I had swapped to a work account, and was allowed to create one, but I want my progress to be on my personal account.

Any help on why I was denied the ability to create one on a personal account would be appreciated. Email is in my profile.

jayti55 commented 4 years ago

Hello, I am trying to finish my Azure fundamentals learning which is part of a work requirement and I have been banned from the sandbox. My account is jayti55@hotmail.com. I recently passed my AZ-900 cert and tried linking it to my account and it doesn't show up in my Achievements folder? Maybe only Microsoft learn badges show here? Not sure if linking this with my work account affected me being banned as well? Please let me know if you can help. Thanks, Jen

C3st0 commented 4 years ago

Same issue here. Same module, i.e. "Host a web application with Azure App service"... Very annoying.

bviyer commented 4 years ago

Hi @yunyunyunyun, I am having the same issue today. Someone above said there is an appeals button but I dont find it. Can you please tell me what I should do to reinstate the sandbox?

clayhere commented 4 years ago

Hello @yunyunyunyun, is it possible to check my user account? I have never been able to activate a sandbox while trying to complete the training for my certification. I always receive an unauthorized use detected error, which is odd since I have never even been able to activate a single sandbox. My MS Learn email address is claytondrodgers@outlook.com . Thank you in advance for any help you or anyone else can provide!

Facing same issue from yesterday. I am using my outlook account anilgeorge7@outlook.com and progressed only till Exercise - Create a website hosted in Azure which require a sandbox. On attempting to activate sandbox get error message below. I am only using it to learn . And not sure how MS is flagging otherwise. Please fix.

Unauthorized sandbox use detected. Your sandbox access has been removed. The sandbox may only be used to complete training on Microsoft Learn. Use for any other reason is prohibited, and may result in permanent loss of access to the sandbox. Please review our Terms of Use.

Hi there,

Facing the exact same issue, on the "Create a website hosted in Azure" training as well. Here is my message, it does not allow to appeal:

"Unauthorized sandbox use detected. Your sandbox access has been removed. The sandbox may only be used to complete training on Microsoft Learn. Use for any other reason is prohibited, and may result in permanent loss of access to the sandbox. Please review our Terms of Use."

My email address is "cesto ( a) hotmail". Extentions is ".com" (I am carefull not to provide my email in plain text).

I have enrolled for an exam this week (AZ-900) and really need to be able and practive before. Thanks for your support.

ddekel22 commented 4 years ago

Hi, I get the same error as well : "Unauthorized sandbox use detected. Your sandbox access has been removed. The sandbox may only be used to complete training on Microsoft Learn. Use for any other reason is prohibited, and may result in permanent loss of access to the sandbox. Please review our Terms of Use."

Celmad commented 4 years ago

Hi. I just sent a ticket report from the docs, but I'll write it here too.

Activated my account today in Microsoft Learn (although, I was using the previous Microsoft Academy with the same account).

Activated Azure Free account and then activated the Student thing.

I was going through the module "Create a Website hosted in Azure" in section 4/8 when I was prompted to activate the Sandbox for the first time. First time I tried I got the "Unauthorized sandbox use detected. Your sandbox access has been removed" without even having one previously activated. No appeal button or anything as other users have pointed out here.

My email is "tan desobediente como el viento de poniente @ hotmail .com"

Thanks.
