Search box text is disappearing when you click in it from results page

When I search for something on docs, I get the search results page with my search phrase populated in the search box. If I try to refine my search phrase by clicking in the search box, my phrase disappears even if I don't type anything. The result is that I now have to remember and retype my entire search phrase.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

1. Go to any docs topic
2. Click in the search box
3. Enter a search phrase and submit
4. See results with original search phrase in search box
5. Click in search box to refine/edit
6. Original search phrase disappears

Expected behavior I expect the search phrase to not disappear
