First of all, I wanted to thank you (and the other contributors) for this article.
It tackles one of the most fundamental questions we hear from our users and customers in this space. It is great that there are folks like you looking into how to best answer and guide the community through the multiple options available.
As you call out, there are several products and solutions in this important space, some with more overlap than others. Many of them born out of specific needs, scenarios and audiences, resulting, over time, in a situation that is not the cleanest to navigate.
The good news is that this is a situation that we are aware of and are on a journey to address. This past year we have made some progress on tackling some of the coherence gaps this article highlights. For example: Loop tasks now sync to Planner and To Do. We launched an alternative for Outlook users to move from classic tasks to modern sync tasks. We are making it simpler to convert Planner plans to Projects. We have released new APIs to improve developer extensibility for Planner. All of these announced in our blogs this year.
That said there is a ton of work yet to do to have a complete and coherent story. We appreciate and welcome the feedback on this and it's something that is top of mind for us.
We have some exciting announcements in this space coming up to Ignite Conference, November 2023. Make sure to tune in to the Tasks and Work Management sessions we will have, so we can share with you our vision and progress in this space.
