I believe 'clear' is a better word to use than 'select' with 'un' in front of it.
I know what I describe above may sound nuts, but hear me out.
To people who don't speak English as a second language, using different words to mean opposites, in a Boolean fashion, can be confusing. I prefer to use 'clear' from an accessibility perspective: Learning disorders like dyslexia hinder some people from reading words, which is why I personally prefer to keep 'clear' and 'select'.
Just my two cents on this, @densha.
This page currently states to use "clear" instead of "uncheck" "unselect": https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/style-guide/a-z-word-list-term-collections/u/uncheck-unmark-unselect
Can someone clarify why "clear" is the preferred term for unselecting check boxes? If "select" is okay, then why not "unselect": https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/style-guide/a-z-word-list-term-collections/c/check-check-box-check-mark
