Side panel meeting apps no longer working for anonymous users #9586

I have noticed that anonymous users joining on a supported web browser, can no longer open meeting apps in the side panel. After a meeting app has been added to a meeting, that app icon should appear in the menu bar (or under the 'more' ellipses dropdown on a smaller screen). However, the app icon does not appear so there is no way for an anonymous user to open the side panel app. Note that this did work in the past.

If the presenter shares the app to the stage, it does work for the anonymous user.

Hi @Hans-Zietsman - Could you please let us know in which web browser, this issue is happening? Is it in Microsoft Edge/ Chrome/Firefox/Safari? Is it working in MS Teams desktop app?

Hi

Firefox and Safari are not (have never been) supported for using meeting apps with anonymous users.

This issue looks like Teams web app on Chromium browsers (Chrome & Edge). See 4x screenshot below from the same call where the app has been added by the host but not in the menu bar for anonymous users on the web. Note it is there for anonymous user on IOS [A screenshot of a computer Description automatically generated]

It is a headache joining a call anonymously from desktop app so unsure of what the status is there

Thank you for replying. It has been more than 2 months where meeting apps in the side panel have not worked
