For instance: this 'example'https://dev.azure.com/{organization}/{project}/_apis/wit/queries/{query}" would never work nor lead to the outcome listed under the example because of the use of {query}, here you should rather use some phrase like 'path to your root folder', or likewise.
So in my opinion a better example would be:
https://dev.azure.com/{organization}/{project}/_apis/wit/queries/{'path to your root folder'}
