Not having the Pre 4.1 rest documentation in the dropdown is plain dumb. #80

Who is going to find the one link to it buried on this page?

Its not like people come to this page and branch down, they bing/google for "TFS REST API BUILD ARTIFACTS" and go right to the page and the head scratching begins.

I have to agree, for anyone on TFS this is a real pain

eriawan commented 6 years ago

Previous version of the API is available on this link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/vsts/integrate/previous-apis/overview?view=vsts

It is in this section of this page:

@eriawan - you may want to read past the title

eriawan commented 6 years ago

@StingyJack I agree. The title is incorrect.

@elbatk the title should be changed, because the content on this page is for VSTS only.

StingyJack commented 6 years ago

@eriawan - The title is indeed correct and summarizes the problem and complaint. Documentation for all the different versions of other modules (powershell, etc) are all available in the nav version picker, not hidden in some other section and at some other arbitrary version cutoff. And per the page title this is for both VSTS and TFS.

If its actually absent for TFS 2018 content, I wouldnt be able to say as we haven't had the availability to upgrade from 2015.4 yet. I just know that these docs used to be available here, then were not, then were available again, and then were not. - all in about the last 6 months. MSFT needs to stop flip flopping and leave the docs where they can be found, and stop making everyone click for several minutes before finding it or giving up. Its aggravating to have to go through this kind of cycle when I need some info, and its dumb because it was present and now it is not (twice) and there is no good reason to move it elsewhere.

Additionally, omission of other versions of TFS is inconsistent with the other docs pages, like this one image
