In MD101, this has always been unreliable. The notification rarely displays. Suggest we change the lab structure slightly. Have the sync initiated from the portal and wait 5 minutes. Then sign in at WS1. If the notification doesn't display, sign out and back in. The notification usually does display in the taskbar following this process.
Worth adding a note that says "If you don't see the notification, ask your instructor for guidance".
