Unsure if it's possible due to rights or something, but DaVinci's Vessels seems to be a less buggy version of Archimedes' Ships that's nearly a drop-in replacement.
The only change necessary outside of the mod itself can be remedied by changing a script, as provided by Unicorn Blood in the Discord:
