The mport included in MidnightBSD 3.1.0 is > 2.4.5, thus cannot handle bundle version 6.
This means a fresh install is unable to use mport to install any new packages (e.g. windowing, ) after first boot.
I was able to fix this by pulling the mport 2.4.7 source code and building it in the chroot before first boot.
Ideally a new MidnightBSD build would be released that includes a version of mport that works with the new bundle version.
Happy to provide any additional information if needed.
Fixed in MBSDfW 3.1.1
