This is something I also think about sometimes, I do agree with all your thoughts, except for maybe the music ones(the amount of people I've seen make music on the internet for years and get no recognition is quite a bit). However, what interests me is: are things really as crazy as they seem? Surely young people of any time era thought same things, there has been no stopping to the progress yet, and new generations were born into the most advanced time in history. I like watching this video at 4min 30sec mark, people were pretty damn advanced back then. I guess the real question I want to pose is the following: is momentary excitement about current technology representative of the long term trends in human progress? https://youtu.be/p2LZLYcu_JY?t=268

Anyway, whether the progress is an exponential graph, or an arctangent graph, the best time to live was, is, and probably will be now. We have one life, time to make use of it.

P.S. Calling Newton's law of universal gravitation an intellectually low hanging fruit is crazy. In general I would not call discoveries like that, I would imagine discovering stuff in new fields, with little prior knowledge about that field is probably just as hard as finding something new in a field you studied about. People in that time still had to spend years learning before making big discoveries, and probably also felt that all the "easy" stuff has been discovered.
