The Rewrite #7

So what's the deal with the rewrite? Plustic is well having issues to say the least so I'm just curious to see if the rewrite for moartinkers is still planned? Ik asking for etas is kinda pointless since things constantly change but I'm just curious if you have any plans soonish and how much will this rewrite change? Will you just skip 1.12 and wait for the next version of tinkers? Like will worlds with older versions break or will they just have different stats? More info would be nice. Thanks

Also is there a reason for the rewrite? Like some instability/bad bugs or something wrong with the older versions?

The rewrite is still planned.

The decision came from the fact that the mod changed authors and as I already had a mod that acted as a library for TiC add-ons, it would be a lot easier to maintain both if Moar Tinkers used that instead of being fully standalone.

The planned changes mean any pack that wishes to use the rewritten version will also need Armory Expansion. But nothing else should break, and I'll be sure to work with anyone willing, to make it so.

The advantages of that include fully customisable stats, material colors, traits, casting and melting recipes (although those last two are still a work in progress), through json files.

I intend to keep the default stats and traits the same as they are in the current version.

Traits might get changed eventually, but it's not part of the current rewrite. I also apologise for the time it's taken so far, and I know it will still take me some more.

Will the fully customizable stats include vanilla tinkers and/or other materials added by other mods?

YaibaToKen commented 4 years ago

Supported stats are only for materials/parts added by any mod using Armory Expansion's framework. Nonetheless, if you require more than that, you can rely on CraftTweaker.

mxnmnm commented 4 years ago

Yea I was just wondering so I could know what I would need to use crafttweaker for

after the rewrite, will this mod support materials that PlusTIC supported but this mod didn't?

PlusTIC got, well, heavily nuked due to recent issues...

YaibaToKen commented 4 years ago

Not immediately after rewrite, but an addon could be written to replace PlusTIC functionality.
