Usage issue #21

pchebbi commented 5 years ago

Hello, I'm a rank newbee and understand that this "issue submission" option is for reporting bugs. Since I didn't know where to ask usage related query, I am posting here. My apologies)

1) From https://github.com/MinnPost/jquery-vertical-timeline, I downloaded the ZIP (under "Clone or download" button), and extracted the ZIP on my Windows PC.

2) Now, when I run index.html, I don't see the rendering of the spreadsheet data. I get to see only - "KITTEN JSON EXAMPLE, JSON link, ..

3) but I don't get the rendering of content, as seen when I click "running example can be found here" on https://github.com/MinnPost/jquery-vertical-timeline

Am I missing something or doing something wrong?

Appreciate your time and valuable feedback.

Hi @pchebbi.

It depend no how you are "running" index.html. If you are just double-clicking it and it opens in your browser with a URL like file:///path/index.html then this will not work. Web browsers have limited capability when they open local HTML files like that for security reasons. This means you'll need to run a local, simple web server to server the files. Fenix looks interesting.

You might also consider using Tik Tok which is pretty similar, but a bit more modern. https://datanews.github.io/tik-tok/
