Did you try setting the input delay to a negative number?
It just occurred to me that this might be related to #289. Version 3.0 did not have this problem.
@Gitweazle Can you verify if mortal kombat is one of the games affected by #289?
I just compared MAME 0.156 with CSUME and it gives the exact same problem as #289. It is just more noticeable on my older machine; others may experience this as input delay.
The question is, why does this only happen on certain arcade hardware? All the games with slowdown use the same core hardware.
I just pushed a new emulator binary a few hours ago. Can you try it and see if it helps?

When you restart mamehub, it will grab the latest emulator.

Do I have to run the update or no? I'm still using 3.0 btw, will that work even though I'm on 3.0?
While I have you, can you tell me, is there a way to have a custom edited rom recognized as it's own separate rom? I'm a tester for Ultimate MK3 Tournament Edition, and we have to use a rom-rename method to make it work, forcing us to change between the original 1.2 revision for mamehub to recognize the rom, then rename the TE game to the proper name to make it run.
I know version of MK2 are hacks recognized by mame, but since mame decides what versions of games to recognize, I was wondering if you have a method of customizing it so that some games are immediately recognized by mamehub.
Thanks, -Phil

You have to use 3.1 to get the latest emulator.
All of the rom detection is based on the mameRoms.xml.gz file (it's a zipped xml file). You can edit this file to add your custom rom.

Unfortunately I think Arcade ROM names are hardcoded into the EXE, so although you could edit the MAME XML file, changing umk3.zip, you will not be able to add umk3myownversion.zip
Another option is to use INI files to redirect MAME to another rompath folder where you've placed the hack; while keeping the original umk3.zip in your default ROMs folder.
I will download the update and report back as soon as I can.
Ok, I'm at work now and will download the update now as well. I'll try and see if it fixes the input delay.
Yeah, what I'm looking for is for 3 different UMK3 games to be recognized.
umk3.zip which is the original, untouched revision 1.2 umk3j.zip which is the very first hack of UMK3, the juggernaut hack, making H.Smoke and Noob Saibot selectable on the character screen umk3te.zip which is the most recent edit of UMK3, which rebalanced the game, and made some major changes to some of the core gameplay making it more balanced.

It might be possible to use clones of umk3.zip to insert the hacks into the XML.
I'm having 2 problems:
1) The server seems down for me 2) Just tried the update and the emulator closes on me. I cannot start CSUME.exe on WinXP 32.bit
Yeah, the server seems down for me too. I'll test when I get home tonight.

Ok, I took care of re-creating my account. By any chance, will you be allowing mamehub to use the old recognition method so that it can run native snes/genesis roms and not just the mess versions?

Hey Jason, so I'm sure you know by now, the most recent update to mamehub doesn't work properly. Anyone who has updated via the mamehub.bat file now has a csume.exe that won't launch games. We have a workaround, since I had a 32bit 3.0 csume.exe that the MK players were using due to input delay in 3.1, and most of us who are still using mamehub have swapped out the provided csume for the 3.0 csume and we're up and running again and able to play games.
Recently, players like myself, Catweazle, nesdev, and a few others have been helping frustrated new mamehub users to get up and running. Once they do get up and running, the new hash files are making it difficult for many players to play games. It was extremely inconvenient to have to replace my own SNES roms with the new MESS ones, and in the process, I've had to switch to entirely Megadrive games instead of playing Genesis, which now won't work properly.
I bring this all to your attention because many players will simply find it all too confusing and too complicated to be worth the trouble when they can simply continue using other multiple emulators. What they lose is the great mamehub netcode and the awesome mamehub community. The problem is, if people continue to have these problems, there won't be many new people joining the mamehub community.
All that said, I'm BEGGING you. Please re-patch mamehub to use the 3.0 csume.exe which has no input delay and bring back the old hash files. Most players don't have the desire to re-download their entire romsets. It is far easier to use mamehub this way and I believe that the community will continue to benefit and grow from this since it makes things less complicated and intimidating for new users.
Thanks again, -Phil

What they lose is the great mamehub netcode and the awesome mamehub community. The problem is, if people continue to have these problems, there won't be many new people joining the mamehub community.
All that said, I'm BEGGING you. Please re-patch mamehub to use the 3.0 csume.exe which has no input delay and bring back the old hash files. Most players don't have the desire to re-download their entire romsets. It is far easier to use mamehub this way and I believe that the community will continue to benefit and grow from this since it makes things less complicated and intimidating for new users.
Thanks again, -Phil

Ok, I took care of re-creating my account. By any chance, will you be allowing mamehub to use the old recognition method so that it can run native snes/genesis roms and not just the mess versions?

I'm having 2 problems:
1) The server seems down for me 2) Just tried the update and the EXE closes on me. I cannot start CSUME.exe on WinXP 32.bit

When we play Mario Bros. we SOMETIMES get a input delay bug that may not happen for 30 minutes into the game. Mostly it happens to one of us but it has happened to both of us in the same game at the same time. This is a bug where we try to go left or right or jump and it happens a second or two later. Try to jump and you have to wait 2 seconds, which usually results in a death. More or less our game is over at that point. We have even tried to finish the level we are on and even the next level and the bug just stays with the person it affected.
I pushed a new version of the emulator that has experimental support for 0-latency netplay. To enable it, add this to your ini file:
rollback 1
Closing this issue. Re-open or create a new issue if there are problems with rollback.
I’m not exactly sure where to add this in the ini file but I’ll look for it tonight when I get home.

@WhompMaste you can add it anywhere as long as it's on its own line
One last question. Do we both need to add this to the ini file or just the person hosting the game?

I have tried multiple times with my partner to get this working and mamehub simply will not connect. Is it possible to email a picture of exactly how and where you have it added in your .ini file? Him and I both have it added on it's own line in the same location as each other but now we can't connect. Thanks!

So just to be clear: When you have rollback set, you can't connect, but when you don't set it you can connect fine? Please send the logs of your failed connect (both you and your partner's) and I can investigate.
I’m sure someone else has tested this out and it worked, right? So I would like to make sure we both have it added in correctly first compared to yours. There is a built in tool on Windows (if you use Windows 7) called Snipping tool. You just click on it and drag around something and it will make a picture of it. Can you either do this and make a pic of how yours looks and send it to me or maybe send me a copy of your .ini file JUST to make sure I have it setup right?
Thanks!

roll back and netcode had gotten some fixes as well as a performance fix, please verify if there is still a problem
Well, I never could get roll back to even work in my txt file. I think (been a while back) we could never connect so we just remove it all together. It's so weird but sometimes we can play a whole game which may be close to a hour (1 game) and never see this delay bug and then it will happen right away in the next game.

@WhompMaste Rollback was buggy until NOW. Try it again, it's fucking amazing.
Also the delay bug is fixed. Was a timestamp issue.
Awesome! We are going to try it tonight! Thanks!

Even when set to 0 natively, the input delay is terrible. As a fighting game fan, it's simply cannot be used for fighters, especially when some combos require to-the-frame inputs that are impossible with such input delay.
Mamehub is amazing for Mortal Kombat since we don't have anything that uses netcode this good, but we are forced to use Mamehub 3.0 because of the input delay. Hopefully this can be fixed.
Thanks, -995Phil
