Album link to gallery. Gallery Shows But Not To Original Page #135

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I am not sure if it's WP 2.5
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Before WP 2.5 When I click on an gallery image within a album it took me to
the gallery with the page (but now the gallery is missing) url
http://simonstownrealty.info/featured-listings/property-for-sale-simonstown-simo
nskloof-r7-700-000-2/
but now after the upgrade I go to this kind of url with only the gallery
showing: http://simonstownrealty.info/nggallery/page-408/album-1/gallery-9

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
The latest that was post on 25 March 2008.
Wordpress 2.5

Please provide any additional information below.
Nothing other than thanking you for this great plugin.

Regards

Johan

Did you update your permalink structure after the update to Wordpress 2.5 ?

Hi Alex thanks for the quick reply. Let me have a look as I was/am clueless
that I
had to do anything about it. Your question: I did not update the permalink
structure. Regards Johan

Johan,

You must press the button "Update permalinks" one time, because the structure
in
plugin is changed.

Hi Alex I wonder if cache is making me see the previous structure. Will check
and let
you know. But as you have checked it should be good to go. I'll clear cache.

The permalink structure is not changed in 0.9x to 0.8x. It depend from which
version
you are coming. You can also disable the gallery permalinks (see options)

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Hi I have now tried all the options I think and consider updating the urls
manually
to go to the original pages where the gallery and text is. Regards Johan

Hi Unfortunately I cannot change the album urls to the pages.

Original comment by johanho...@gmail.com on 2 Apr 2008 at 2:16

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
You can only disable it, if you would like to change it you must change the
code
itself

Hi Alex I don't like to think that I cannot get the album links to the gallery
back
to the way it worked before. But I have to admit that I am now lost. Regards

Hi Alex further testing:

You may have figured it out:
The page link and new page creation does not work as it should --- my opinion.
It creates a new page and link that page to the parent page.
It drops the gallery in the new page created.
The album's links are not updated to the new page's url.
It creates a link to another place that also has the gallery.

I created a gallery called test and add it to my original album
Under Manage Gallery > I set parent page Featured Listings
http://simonstownrealty.info/featured-listings/
and created a new page called test:
http://simonstownrealty.info/featured-listings/test/

The Featured Listing page http://simonstownrealty.info/featured-listings/ with
the
album shows the test preview image (see bottom of this page) but the URL is not
http://simonstownrealty.info/featured-listings/test/ it's going to
http://simonstownrealty.info/featured-listings/?album=1&gallery=12

Thank you for helping and you must be mad at 2.5 stuffing you around ;-) like
this.
But I hope my efforts can help you identify the problem.

Regards and enjoy

Johan

Johan,

please check the Gallery option : "Deactivate gallery page link", is it checked
or
not ?

Being pretty stupid. I deactivated the link and obviously it kept me on the
same page
when I click on gallery link on the album page. I will now check it again.

Johan,

the album have two linking modes :

1. Deactivate gallery page link "ON" : Now, the album will not link to any
subpage,
it will uses the url structure ?album=1&gallery=12 or (with
permalinks)"nggallery/page-408/album-1/gallery-12"

2. Deactivate gallery page link "OFF" : Now, the album will link to the page
you
define for each gallery (See Manage gallery)
