Seems as good a time as any to submit the first pull request for this. As of now, the only changes are to support the current GAE instance that I set up. I also had to generate a new Google Maps API key and add it to the config file.

Dave - to make this easier to review, could you send a pull request for the ORIGINAL speedometer code and then a separate commit for the changes you made? I'm going to have a hard time finding your changes in here :-)
