ModOrganizer 2 won't start at all #1514

The problem:

MO2 simply won't start.

To Reproduce:

Steps to reproduce the behavior: Running ModOrganizer.exe

Environment:

Details:

When I launch ModOrganizer.exe it creates a .dmp file and shows up in Task Manager for about .5 of a second, then it closes. The Task Manager info and the dmp. file is the only thing telling me it has tried to start.

I have no AV active, I have restarted, uninstalled, reinstalled, ran as admin and installed OpenSSL (as it was the only "solution" I could find for this issue).

Have also tried most of the older versions of MO2, and none of them work. MO1 works, but that doesn't really help me.

Link to Mod Organizer logs:

Cannot open MO2 to create log files.

Can you upload the .dmp file here?

Stianawne commented 3 years ago

Unable to upload the .dmp file directly here, so here's a Mega link.

Do tell if you want me to do it another way.

The coredump doesn't really have anything interesting. I think I've seen similar crashes a few times, but I don't know what causes it. Is it a new problem? Were you able to run MO before?

Getting the logs could be useful, so try this: 1) Go in your instance folder (or MO's installation folder if you're using a portable instance) 2) Find ModOrganizer.ini. Open it in Notepad. 3) Find the line log_level=1 and change it to log_level=0 (change 1 to 0). 4) Try running MO again. 5) After it crashes, go in the logs folder of your instance and upload mo_interface.log here.

It doesn't generate a ModOrganizer.ini file. I believe that happens when you successfully run the .exe for the first time(?)

I have not run MO2 on this computer ever before. No versions of MO2 seem to work.

Stianawne commented 3 years ago

Installed a mod pack with ModOrganizer 2 included that also had the .ini file. Changed it to log_level=0, but when i run MO2 it still won't generate any logs.

I have this issue, too. An older version worked. Regretting the update. Where can I find an older versions to try?
