Any action that has to deal with the downloads list causes MO2 to not respond.
It is fully using one thread. But it is seeming more like a bug then product of lack of resources since it wasn't gradual it was sudden.
To Reproduce:
It will happen by opening settings, installing, or downloading mods.
I have ~13943 files of those 6833 .meta in that folder

2.5.0
2.5.1rc2
Details:
They are on a fast external SSD 150ish MB 4k write\read.
The log says it saw ~180,000 files which is impossible.
