Sam - this is fine for now as I know we have to work fast for the workshop, but in the long run, alot of this seems like code that belongs in a separate perl module dedicated to genetic algorithms etc. I want to avoid ProbModelSEEDHelper.pm becoming a catchall and growing to astronomical proportions.

We might also consider exploring a canned perl bio package for some of this...
