With reports of the Israeli gov. having talks about how to make more people use the app, I have a suggestion.
One reason why many people stopped using the app is its battery consumption and trust problems.
Although there is an option from inside the app to turn Bluetooth off, it's not easily accessible.
Secondly, ordinary people are not aware that Bluetooth is one of the main reasons for the battery consumption, so a button that turns Bluetooth off is Gibberish to them (I'm obviously exaggerating, people know in general what Bluetooth is, but I hope you get the point).
My idea: The app should have two modes: a so-called "safe environment" mode and an "outside world" mode.
Safe environment
Users are at home or at work with other people that they personally know, meaning they don't really need Bluetooth on.
Outside world
Users are shopping or commuting, meaning they don't personally know everyone around them, and need Bluetooth on to protect themselves.
So far it is mainly a rebranding of the Bluetooth on/off button to make it more intuitive for the user.
The second part of my idea is to have the switching between the two modes I described much more accessible.
I come from Android so I'll give Android related ideas:
-Have a widget on the home screen that allows the user to switch between the modes.
-Have an option to create a Quick Settings button that easily switches between the modes.
-A constant notification is already displayed by HaMagen app. have a toggle on that constant notification! (If that's possible)
-Integration with smart features by Google like automatically switching to "Safe environment" mode when the phone is located in the user's home is also a nice addition.
etc..
The point is to let the user have as much easy control over when the "outside world" mode is on or off.
I think that a rebranded app as a protection app that you turn on when you need rather then an always-on approach is the way to go.
This is all just a thought of mine and I'm sharing it with you because why not :)
