Unable to cancel a student application #8

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Fill in the first page of a student app
2. Submit the first page
3. Try to go to the mentor section.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I would have expected a "Cancel Application" possibility. And there seems
to be non.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Icedove 2.0.0.2 on Debian Linux unstable

Please provide any additional information below.
I filled in the first page of the student app in order to check what are
the questions that students are being asked. I am currently unable to login
as a mentor even though our organization has been accepted. I know that
it's against the rules of the program to participate as both a mentor and a
student yet I find it natural for mentors to try to have a look at the
student application process so that they're better aware of what students
go through before reaching the project. I would therefore have expected to
find a way to cancel my student subscription.

Emil, the only work around is to sign up for a new Google Account. There is
documentation to review the student application process here:

http://groups.google.com/group/google-summer-of-code-announce/web/guide-to-the-g
soc-web-app-for-student-applicants

In the future, we can look into making the student application process more
visible
to mentors, but for now marking this bug as wontfix.

Hey LH,

The problem is that the account that got blocked (the one that I am reporting
this
issue with) was actually the admin account for our organization so I am
currently
unable to act on the mentor applications.

Would it be possible to manually remove it from the student lists, then?
