Can <<developer.name>> (mailmerge) be made to work like ${developer.name} (FTL)? #274

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Take a docx file with Mergefields
2. (We want to ween the customer off MSWord, so ...) we convert this file to
odt. LibreOffice converts the Mergefields into Mailmergefields.
3. The Mailmergefields have the format <<fieldname>> instead of ${fieldname}
and are not inputfields

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Can <<developer.name>> (mailmerge) be made to work like ${developer.name} (FTL)?

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
LibreOffice 4.0.3.3 on Windows XP SP 3

Please provide any additional information below.

Hi nagios,

If I understand you have 2 problems :

1) Using ODT mailmergefield

No it's not possible. XDocReport uses inputfields instead of mailmergefields
because it's not possible to create a custom name for mailmergefield with ODT
(you must link it to a datasource).

2) Using <<developer.name>> syntax.

The inputfield name must follow the template engine syntax. But I would like in
the future support any syntax.

I think it will be an hard work, but you could develop your onwn preprocessor
to detect mailmergefield and transform it to well syntax.
