broken PDf generation on complex document #446

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Send either of those two files to converter webservice
2. try to get them as PDF

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

I expect to see a PDf document that is similar in layout to original document.
In place, the docx result in a corrupted PDF foxit reader can not open and odt
result in a document where borders are shifted about 5cm down and 15 cm right

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Current online converter webservice at
http://xdocreport-converter.opensagres.cloudbees.net/

Please provide any additional information below.

Hi tchize,

As you said, your odt and docx are very complex (complex layout, using shape,
etc)

We know we must improve our converters, but it's so hard task and we have not a
lot of time. The first goal of our converter is to use it to generate simple
report and convert it.

Need find time to fix your problem.

Yes, it comes from a .doc that was generated from a pdf :)

We were testing the possibility to switch from jodconverter to xdocreport for
pdf generation but i have to admit this document is the worst we have in sotck.
But it's also one of the most important for our application. Submitted to you
so you know about this issue, i don't expect urgent fix ;)

Best regards,
David Delbecq
