Do you use the widget on your lock screen? I am using DashClock as a widget on
my home screen and I have the unlocking method set to none, and I'm seeing this
issue too. But if I enable the lock screen and set DashClock as the lock
widget, then it updates whenever I wake the device.
I think the issue is since the app was designed primarily as a lock screen
widget, there's not a mechanism for automatic periodic updates. One should
definitely be added.

Yes, I have it set on the lock screen as well and it updates fine. When the
widget is placed on the home screen it does not.

I am having this same problem except my weather is up updating either. A
reboot forces an update but no other changes happen after that. My last press
update was from 10:18 am (Current time 7:21pm). I also removed Press from the
Home Screen widget but it did not go away. Weather says 33deg (Currently 41)

Hi folks, which device, OS version, and launcher are you using? And are you
using a custom ROM?

Hi. I have the same behaviour since android 4.1.1. All the widgets on my
homescreen are not updating or updating every 1-2 days. A phone reboot forces
them to update. I read somewhere around the internet is a known issue of
Android. I solved installing nova launcher.

Nexus 7, Android 4.2.2, stock launcher.
I'm now not sure this is a consistent problem for me. It might have just
skipped an update or two for some reason.
How often is the weather supposed to update on the home screen widget? And is
it normal to not match what's shown on the Google Now weather card?
Original comment by Colin.K...@gmail.com

#9: Which extensions do you have active?
The weather is updated hourly, and since it uses Yahoo! Weather, it will likely
be different from what Google Now shows.

I have Gmail, text messages, calendar and missed calls. On the lockscreen the
widget will show a new email but the Homescreen widget will not. Then sometimes
a calendar reminder will show on the homescreen widget but when I go to it and
delete it it still shows as active on the widget.

Awesome. I'm down to try the debug app. I added two widgets today on my

cLock is updating correctly while DashClock is not.

Here's a link to the debug app:
http://code.google.com/p/dashclock/downloads/detail?name=DashClock-1.3-dbg.apk
Could you try it out, take a bug report (varies by device, on a Nexus 4 you can
enable it in developer options) and attach the report here?

Original comment by byungy...@gmail.com

Nope, this app is signed with the same certificate so you can just install over
the current one. BTW, clicking the weather should trigger an update, so it's
best to capture a bug report after clicking the weather.

I've never done a bug report so please bear with me. I installed the apk, went
to developer options and hit take bug report. It doesn't seem like it did

@vickmacky1 — sorry for the lack of info... it takes about a minute to
capture a full bugreport and afterwards it should popup with the option to send
via Gmail.
Once you've captured it, don't attach it here, just email it to

I have the same issue. It may help to know know that the home screen widget
will stay stale until I either restart my launcher or, most importantly, when I
expand the lock screen widget before unlocking.
I'm guessing the list of items only re-renders after the lock screen widget has
been expanded or when a new item is pushed to the list. Push and pop seems to
work fine for some extensions, but not others. (e.g. SMS works, TV Show Faves
and next alarm don't).
Also worth noting: I have the widget expanded on my home screen, taking up the
whole page.

Same issue here, although I use Dashclock with Widgetlocker (which should be
the same as having it on the home screen). It sometimes stops updating (the
clock updates fine, but not the extensions), and a reboot is needed for it to
start working properly.

Same issue here. I have it on both lock and desktop screens. It does seem to
work just fine on the lock screen, but not the desktop. One part that was very
frustrating was when i had a battery icon in there(Dashclock Battery Extension
and Battery Extension(Dashclock)are the two names in the play store) both of
them would not have the right battery percent. Other extensions would not
update or would never show up until a launcher restart.

Symptoms: Widget works fine when it is in the lockscreen but doesn't update

then unlock the phone then the widget in the homescreen gets updated.

@Roman, I can confirm I'm seeing this problem with stock Android 4.2.2 and

OK, I believe most people seeing this issue are seeing the issue when the
widget is in expanded mode. If you're experiencing this, please try out this
debug APK that is more aggressive (but battery-conscious) at refreshing the
widget when expanded:

I'm using the latest debug version since a few days ago, and now the widget
seems to update properly, but the drawback is some flickering, aspecially the
calendar extension. When I turn the screen on, the calendar flickers once, then
a second later, it flickers again. Sometimes, all the extension flicker at the
same time.
I'm guesting it flickers when the widget updates, and it seems to do so more
often that necessarily.
Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm running 4.2.2 stock on a Nexus 4, using
WidgetLocker. Prior to the debug version, there was no flickering.
