NetbookBootMaker 0.8.3 RC4 not recognizing USB Partition

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Create master boot record partition on flash drive
2.Restore OSX Snow Leopard from CD to partition
3.Open NetbookBootMaker 
4. The only USP Partition available on drop down is 'intel iMac HD'  (my 
primary hard drive)

What netbook are you using this on?
I will be using Dell 10v

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect to see the partition on the flash drive as an option in the drop down 

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
NetbookBootMaker 0.8.3 RC4 (same results with NetbookBootMaker 0.8.2 )
System I am trying to run NetbookBootMaker on is running snow leopard 10.6.2

Please provide any additional information below.

Same situation here, completely unable to select a driver other than the main 
HDD.
I have used 2 usb sticks, a 16GB Sandisk Cruzer and an ipod (exclusively in 
data 
mode) and the dropdown only offers the main disk as an option.

I have also tried partitioning with Hfs+ with and without journaling and 
several 
netbookmaker versions

- Mac OS X 10.6.2
- NetbookBootMaker 0.8.3
- NetbookBootMaker 0.8.2
- NetbookBootMaker 0.8.1

The same situation here. 
1. tried .8.3 and .8.4 with MBR and GUID. 
2. NBM does not give any choice. Neither my Mac HDD nor any stick. 
3. Tried with micro SanDisc cruizer 3U, than with SDHC Transcend microSd and 
Panasonic SDHC. All are bootable as checked with an ubuntu installation.
4. Used Mac OSX 10.5.8 + Disk Utility for preparations and dd as well. All 
worked 
well for ubuntu and was able to boot from. Bios recognized all USB media as 
bootable 
and available for boot in BIOS.

You need to use a retail dvd, otherwise it won't work (aka, buy one from the 
store, it's only $29).

I'm using the DVD, I got together with my iMac. It is a retail (selled with the 
hardware). Currently updated the system to 10.5.8. btw, does it work together 
with a 
10.4 Version as well? I've another one original Tiger version selled together 
with a 
MacBook (intel).

A retail version of tiger (for intel) doesn't exist, so that won't work. The 
disk bundled with your machine also 
won't work, it has to be retail, not oem.

10.5or later dvds will work with NBI up to version 0.8.3, After that, you'll 
need to use the 10.6 dvd, since it's the 
only version supported now.

update: I did prepare an dmg of every one disc I have (10.4 & 10.5) afterwards 
upgraded two real Macs with the dmg 10.5, which worked fine. I tried to boot 
from an 
unchanged USB "copy" of the image 10.5. It did start and than frozen the eee. 
So, I 
assume, the dmg is not corrupted and it is bootable. The BootMaker does not 
recognize any disc neither on the iMac nor MacBook. Both are intel 2,2 GHz duo 
core 
equipped. I've seen some additional errors stated in the console (syslog 
output). I 
can pass it to you if required, once I'm at home again. Maybe it helps.

I'm really sorry but my job is consuming my rest of the free time... Finally 
got the 
retail DVD and being able to use NBM. currently running against the usual 
kernel 
panic at boot time. I'll look forward to pick up a solution from other issues 
listed

I have the same issue:  with a retail OSX DVD, NBM 0.8.4 will not recognize the 
new partition on my 8GB usb. Any ideas? Thanks! 

I tried using NBM 0.8.3, which did recognize the usb, and apparently installed 
ok.  But, after getting through the entire install process on the netbook, for 
some reason I am not able to open any .dmg files! I can't install any 
applications, including Chrome, TextWrangler, Evernote, ... nothing... and 
these are .dmg's that run fine on my MacBook Pro. Double-clicking on any .dmg 
brings up the same error (after a long pause): Image: googlechrome.dmg; reason: 
Device not configured.  I haven't seen this kind of problem posted anywhere :(  
 Help??

Same problem. I upgraded my OS X from 10 to 10.6 using a retail version that I 
bought for ~ $30 from bestbuy. The box reads "MAC OS X V10.6 RETAIL" 
NetbookBootMaker 0.8.4 RC1 would not find the USB as a target. Same using two 
different memory sticks. I downgraded to 0.8.3 and it does find the USB and 
does its magic on it. The usb then boots my Dell Mini 10V but after choosing 
the language ("Use English for the main language") and the message "preparing 
installation" I got the error 
"Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer"
At that point I tried formatting the Mini's hard disk using the Disk Utility 
that shows up under the Utilities menu on the top after that error message to 
partition the mini's hard disk as  Mac OS Extended (Journaled), one partition. 
It seems to does so as next time I boot the Mini with the usb stick I still get 
the same error 
"Mac OS X cannot be installed on this computer" but when inspecting the hard 
disk with Disk Utilities it does show up as formatted. 
When looking at the Installer Log (under the "Window" menu on the top) the 
first errors read (I am skipping their time)

as uid 0

OSInstaller[126]: Installation checks failed.

Same issue here, Retail version of OS X from Best Buy $30. I formatted the USB 
drive (8 gig Microcenter brand) as per the instructions, did restore to the USB 
drive (which took 24 hours) and when I launch netbookinstaller the only target 
available in the drop down is the HD of my mac, not the USB drive.

Any ideas? Should I try a different USB drive? I'm doing this from a mac mini.

User error on my part, was using bootinstaller instead of bootmaker. Works fine.

Need to right click on USB in finder.  Open Get info. Go down to bottom right 
and unlock.  Unclick the ignore ownership box.  try again to use netbookmaker.

Hi I'm having problems here too.
 I get to the point where i use netbook bootmaker and I get the message 'this application is not supported by this architecture'
I'm using my friends Imac running 10.5.8 with an Intel chip, I had a the same 
problem on another friends macbook also running 5.8, i have tried all available 
versions on NBI to no avail, help!
