Maybe it's because blender runs with Python 3 but BioBlender is Python2?
There are several issues with BioBlender: one of them is certainly that it was running with Python2.
I am glad to report that we have finally been able to secure some resources that will permit the update of BioBlender to Python3, and its integration with more recent external programs, for example for the (faster) calculation of Ep and MLP.
Regards, Monica

That is so cool! I'm looking forward to it. Keep us posted :)
That is very good news! I'd love to be able to use BioBlender on the new generation of Blender. 2.80 is out now. 2.81 should be out next month.
Thanks for the update!!
Hello everyone. I am trying installing Bioblender 2.1 on Blender 2.90 but I have the same error. For me cannot be python version because i have 3.8.2 and Pymol 2.4.1 Can anyone have some ideas how to fix it?
Hello Everyone, I downloaded the Blender 3.3 version (but I tried also with 3.0 and 2.7) and I'm experiencing the same identical error. Does anyone has suggestions about how solving it ?
Thanks, Gab
I have installed the BioBlender 2,0 add-on into Blender version 2,8. When I try to activate the add on, via:
Edit > Preferences > Add-Ons > Add Mesh: BioBlender 2.0
An error message says "upgrade to 2.8x required" along with an exclamation mark in a triangle icon.
When I try to check the box to install the add-on, a syntax error is generated. See the attached image for details.
Is there a fix for this or something obvious I am doing wrong?
Thanks!
