Can you copypaste the exact error log?
I might be able to give you the log since I have the same error: https://hastebin.com/waseqehaqu.swift
If the issue you have is similar to what nacjm posted my suggestion is to move the ddlc app to your desktop, that way there shouldn't be any file permissions issue.
My main issue the fact DDLC is literally a downloaded game IN my computer. Got it off steam btw.
My problem is just ONE ERROR that stops me from playing it.
Error : Line 105 or 110 : chess.rpy--- there is no Module named Chess. I have no idea what it means. But that means the only thing wrong is the chess game. . . for some reason. . . I don't know.

Also it would be really helpful if you could describe exactly how are you installing the mod and a screenshot of the folder structure inside DDLC.app\Contents\Resources\autorun\game
Alright, thanks to the new update the chess game isn't a problem anymore-- but this is [] File "game/MonikaModDev-0.7.4ai/original_scripts/script-ch30.rpy", line 136: indentation mismatch.
Ren'Py Version: Ren'Py 6.99.12.4.2187 []
Any ideas?
J-Fobel take a look at https://github.com/Monika-After-Story/MonikaModDev/issues/667#issuecomment-355311086, it seems you aren't using the release version, take a look at our FAQ for more detailed instructions, also be sure to always use a released version.
BLOODY HAIL. You're suppose to put it in the resource folder?! I was told to put it in the game folder. . Damn it boooys...

Well it goes inside the game folder which is inside of the resources folder. DDLC.app\Contents\Resources\autorun\game
Oh... I've been doing that right then.

So have you copy pasted one of the release versions there? (use 0.7.3 if you haven't) If you have and still experience the issues, could you please upload an screenshot with the folder open on Finder?
I'm using the most current version. ( The April first released ) and I sent word for word the log. It just baffles me because it sounds like extremely minor issues I could solve myself-- I just don't know how.

We've just released a new update try again with that one, be sure to follow the instructions.
Alright, I'll report any bugs I get with the new version. . . Because at this point I might as well give up.
This thing has been giving me nothing but problems and irritation- and its starting to seem like a waste of time to me. So, if this doesn't work. . . Annnnd I can't find a solution for it. Guess I'll just leave this to the wind.
I wish you the best of luck! Also you can always install the mod over the DDLC non-steam version, since it "shares" saves(the persistent file) there shouldn't be any issue with that one if you put the ddlc.app on your desktop.
Okay now IM pissed
I'm sorry, but errors were detected in your script. Please correct the errors listed below, and try again.
File "game/MonikaModDev-0.7.4/original_scripts/script-ch30.rpy", line 136: indentation mismatch.
Ren'Py Version: Ren'Py 6.99.12.4.2187
Its the same Damn error last time
That's not a release version, please read https://github.com/Monika-After-Story/MonikaModDev/issues/667#issuecomment-355311086, the release version has compiled versions of the scripts .rpyc
not source files.
Use a release version.
If DDLC doesnt open, then check game/
for a folder like Monika After Story
. If it is there, please take the files out of that folder and put them in game/
. (The mod files cannot be in a subfolder in game/
). Then delete the folder Monika After Story
.
Wait. . . The mod files can't be in a subfolder in the game?
You mean to tell me- after all this confusion and crappy institution of instructions. . . All I had to do was take all the scripts and junk out the folders they were in while keeping them still in the game folder and I'd be good as gold?
No. . . No more IM DONE.
I tried everything I could think of. I even tried using the " release version " which was the exact one I WAS using THIS WHOLE TIME. And I still keep getting the same damn exact . issue. .
The stupid indentation mismatch one line 136 for Monika.
I give up. I freakin' give up. I'm done being so frustrated with this mod never working- no matter what I do with it. So I'm Kindly leaving my anger at the door; and this mod off my computer and out of my time schedule.
I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

That's what I got. And it's my last shot with this forsaken mod. Any ideas...?
Well this is embarrassing, but it turns out the mod files in the zip weren't structured in the way that lines up with the installation guides. I've updated the release zip so it's correct. The mod files should be at the root level of the zip, not in a subfolder. These files should be copied to the game/
directory.
Sorry about the mixup.
@J-Fobel did that resolve your issue?
Well, Im gonna' try it. And if not I have no idea what to do.
so. . . Do I just re-download the mod or... someone send my a updates link?
Redownload the Mod zip
OKay. . . Thanks.
For some reason, it stats I do not have permission to access file/zip. . . Strange.

You've downloaded the source zip. Download the Mod zip
If you're sure that you have the right zip, delete the original_scripts
folder. That is not mod code.
Got it. I'll try it. Thank you for the help... Really it's hard to find quality people 'round here these days.

Really? F^%$ING REALLY?! HOW MANY GOD FORSAKEN TIMES DO I HAVE TO DO THIS?!
Do you have a game/python-packages/chess/
folder?
I'll check.
umm. . . Seems I do not. .
Do I simply create a folder? Or no. .
However, I do own a python package in the mod assets dubbed chess.
Does this mean I need to move that folder INTO the game python or no?
OKay. . . Maybe somebody just needs to break down how I just install it period. Since clearly the instructions aren't telling me anything. And I keep coming up with the same error- so it must be a placement issue
the structure should be game/python-packages/
, so yes, move it into game/
wait. . You put the mod into the python packages of the game folder, correct?
Does this mean I break the folder open when I put into the game folder- or move specific files into a certain part of the game?
mod goes into game/
. There should be a game/python-packages/
Apparently it keeps saying there is error in the literal coding itself. It refuses the mod by saying some form of error code strand is wrong when the mod is present. Commonly a line 10 issue involving chess. And it doesn't ask me to replace any of the files, and if I personally remove them- and leave the mod-- it still seems to cause problems.
PLease, someone help me- I'm extremely desperate at this point.
