This issue is about users who take Monika out, but when returning her file, she does not appear.

If you are here because your Monika is not re-entering the spaceroom and you only want to solve your issue

You can restore an older persistent to recover your Monika. If you only want to solve your issue, then you can stop here.

Legend:

dockingstation farewell - the take-you-somewhere farewell

Symptoms

user uses the dockingstation farewell
monika file is confirmed created and it exists
user relaunches game, monika does not appear.
monika file still exists, but game will not accept it.

Further symptoms include:

monika file checksum not matching the stored checksum.

Findings

Usually happens because the monika file got corrupted by external forces (not safely removing, editing file)
- however, this is happen frequently enough where I don't think its entirely that.
- in this case, log shows I found corrupt monika.
It's unlikely to be an issue with file generation, we always double check the chksum of the file when leaving. If we don't get a match, then monika says she couldn't turn herself into a file.

Going Forward

Users affected by this should upload the following to this issue:
- persistent file
- mas_log.txt. This is located in the log/ folder of the DDLC install. Only upload the log file after closing the game.

This would be for gathering data only. We will not provide resets for this since we are unable to differentiate between malicious users and affected users.

In the meantime, you can restore an older persistent to recover your Monika.

We don't have a root cause for this. Still investigating.
