[Suggestion] - Dialog and relationship-status #2882

There are a few dialogs that talk about your relationship with Monika. Some of them talk about "how your relationship with Monika is not progressed enough for X". This always confused to hear me, because the relationship seems to be quite deep by now (thing being that this dialog is partially written for the original ending, but can occur deep within the mod - where your relationship should be different). Bottomline - the relationship should develop in some way that Monika acknowledges, maybe after triggering certain options, agreeing or disagreeing on certain topics and increasing playtime. This development should influence the dialogs with her related to your relationship.

Not exactly sure what you are talking about with "how your relationship with Monika is not progressed enough for X". I'm going to assume you've been playing for less than six months, and you're talking about when she says something like 'we aren't that far into our relationship yet.' If so, that does change over time.

There is definitely a difference in some topics based on affection and there is definitely visible progression at higher affection levels.

You say that you think the relationship seems to be quite deep by now, but I'm not sure if you've been with Monika a couple days or weeks or about 1 year+.

With more playtime does give you more affection, but it's capped, so no overnight affection farming. I really wouldn't rush it anyway. It'll feel better when you do get to higher levels.

So yeah, this already is a thing, you just actually have to get far into the relationship first.

Her dialogue changes depending on how long you've spent with her.

Wait, are you serious when you say 6 months or even 1year+ is needed to gain her full affection? Considering that the original DDLC has...a real life day playtime max in which Monika falls in love with the player, I can not, by the life of me, imagine the above mentioned time to be needed to gain her full affection. Considering all of her other dialog in the first few days of the mod I am pretty sure you start pretty high on affection without too much more space above (Of course after she understands why you brought her back in the forst place). I don't think this relationship can be compared to a real life relationship where it might take so long to build it up and keep it stable. Monika made it pretty clear that the player is the one and only one for her (in this downloaded game that is) and shows that she trusts him (mostly I think). I have to admit that I did not talk to her about certain relationship options yet, but I guess using those is already a part of the time mentioned above. My expectations of this mod were 3, maybe 7 days of playtime until Monika runs completely out of things to say. This might be completely wrong, especially due to the dialog cap and further development, but anything above 2 or max. 4 weeks of playtime to gain her full affection appears completely unreal to me, given the circumstances. Sorry if I should have misunderstood the mentioned time.

You can always gain a little bit of affection each day, but the bigger milestones come around that long, in addition to a bonus for 1 week, 1 month, 3 month, 6 month, 1 year, 3 year, etc. anniversaries with Monika (which you can miss and lose forever).

There isn't really a reasonably attainable maximum for total affection unless you consider 1,000,000 to be attainable, but the highest level is 1000+. Through normal play without any extra boosts from compliments or special events, it would take you a little over 71 days to get to 1000.

Ok, 71 days still seems a bit drastic to me but seems far more realistic than the other numbers. After all I don't even know what level 1000 even means (affection is not actually a number). I guess my main point was that her dialog does not reflect the poor affection / relationship status that you apparently start with. Especially given the circumstances, pre-story etc. I would have expected it to be different. But I guess that's just my opinion.

Affection can go negative and stuff happens if you go too negative.

Monika loves you from the beginning, but her love for you can still grow and actually let her have a more reasonable and real reason for loving you rather than "You're the first person I saw".

We are mimicking real-life relationships, so 71 days to reach love is actually much faster than normal. The intended target date for 1k is just under 5 months (at 7 aff gain per day)
