Good idea!
If you lose a few games in a row and then win, Monika says, "Congrats, [player]! I knew you would win a game after enough practice! "Remember, if you train long enough I'm sure you can reach everything you aim for!"
This makes sense and is encouraging the first time. However, when playing Pong with Monika often, it seems inevitable that a player will have losing streaks from time to time even if they're somewhat skilled at Pong. When this happens, the dialogue after winning seems quite strange, or even condescending, especially if the player has won many times in the past.
Perhaps after the player wins for the first time, the dialogue could be changed to something along the lines of,
"Aww, looks like my winning streak is over, ahaha!" "I knew you would win another game eventually, though. Well played!"
who's gonna make it because I really don't mind this
condescending dialogue is annoying so I will leave this open as high priority
I support this for those reasons. In addition, when you do break a losing streak, she was likely going at least a little easier on you than when you started losing (and yes this is noticeable), which can make the comment seem even more strange or condescending. Also because I think it's a bit too long of a comment and a suggestion like that is a bit shorter. Hopefully this hasn't been forgotten about.
I don't really think this warrants its own issue or at least not yet, so I'll just mention it here for now.
There's a few other comments that, while I don't really think need to be changed, I found a little peculiar. Sometimes she will say stuff like "Wow, I'm really trying... You're unstoppable!" or "Not bad [player name], I gave it everything I had, so don't feel bad for losing from time to time."
Monika is being flattering to make the player feel good for winning or better about losing, but she can't fool me on this. I know just from playing pong enough that when she says these things, she is (usually) not trying her best. Sometimes I wish I could tell her that.
In fact, I suspect I haven't gotten to the highest difficulty level in pong yet and I'm not sure how many levels there are (or if there's even a max level at all). I am curious about that though.
I've actually changed my mind a little about this. I still think new dialogue should be added, but don't think this dialogue about practice has to stop appearing completely after just the first time. Monika is trying to be nice/helpful to the player with this dialogue and I can appreciate it. Maybe 50/50 chance would still be too much, but it could happen less often than new dialogue.
