[Suggestion] - Midnight Rework #7705

This is an idea I had while discussing a subtopic that came up in #7690. For my reference point I'll be using standard (non-personal adjusted times) in MAS.

As we all know Monika has different varying dialogue depending on when you choose the goodbye option "I'm going to sleep". As the night progresses Monika gets understandably more concerned about the player, and the goodbyes change to reflect that. Around the time zone of late night to 5am, these goodbyes and hellos become blurred in a sense, as the way for Monika to determine if you just woke up or haven't slept isn't very consistent.

My proposal to fixing this as well as issues with any dialogue that may arise is through a branching path. I'm going to now attempt to format a flow chart.

Start: Monika asks player if they just woke up. Player options are something along the lines of "I just woke up" or "I haven't slept yet" This does not happen if player has logged in within the past hour beforehand, as Monika than assumes the player hasn't slept yet.

Haven't slept: Proceed with normal dialogue, maybe make small edits it as discussed in #7690. Maybe have Monika remind the player that she's always willing to listen to them talk if something is keeping them up (implying player towards "I feel" options)

Just woke up: Reminder that this is an option only between the hours of 12-5, or the same hours which she gets concerned about you not getting enough sleep. It's here that Monika will ask something lighthearted, but allow for player choice to very in theme as to accommodate for various reasons why they are suddenly awake early. -Between 12-3ish Monika asks the player if they just got up for an event (implied something on T.V, concert, etc.) -Around 5 this changes to suit the more morning dialogue, where Monika says dialogue similar to what she would normally have said originally (asking the player is going somewhere early etc.) -These differences in dialogue between different hours aren't necessary, but would add a bit more detail and make it feel more real.

Options player can choose: -I'm getting ready to go somewhere: Monika tells player that it was nice that they came to spend time before they left, similar to the "I'm going to class" dialogue if you spend 20 mins before leaving. Optional: Asks player how long they'll be out (links into something akin to "I'm going to go away for a while") --A few hours: Monika talks about how it must be a busy day, and tells player to visit her when they get back, (maybe add a quip about coffee helping to stay awake) --All day: Monika teases the player, something like "must be something important, huh?" Tells player not to worry about her for the day, but then back to a tease similar to the dialogue used in the "I'm going to game" for multiple hours, where she talks about needing to spend more time in a lighthearted and more joking way, and not serious. --More than a day: Similar dialogue to the "I'm going to go away for a while", asking the player to tell her before they leave, etc.

-I had a nightmare: before we go into this one I thought of an interesting concept. Optional Have the game check the logs for Monika telling a scary story an hour before they last left the game. If so then the dialogue will change slightly --Normal: Monika first tries to comfort the player, similar to if the player chooses the "I feel anxious" option. Monika asks if player wants to talk about it, if Yes then add the vent option from "I feel like crying". Afterwards Monika talks about nightmares in general, maybe about how they're caused. End with cute dialogue about how she'll always be there to help comfort player. --Optional: Monika starts the same, comforting player (basically copy paste from Normal). Rather than talking about Nightmares Monika instead stops for a moment and remembers, then asking if perhaps her scary story could've caused it, half teasing half concerned attitude. Simply probably or probably not, with Monika shifting to and apology on probably (more concern) and relief on probably not. -Nothing/"...": the classic response, for those of few words, doesn't trigger a response. Bonus: it also doubles for those who don't really have anything to say concerning the the other options. Bottom of list naturally.
