[Suggestion] Improvement on kissing Monika

(I apologize if this was suggested before, I didn't look through everything) So with the current mechanic, kissing Monika is a zoom in on her face while she closes her eyes. But I think it looks kinda off that the table gets closer along with her. I know you could probably argue that the player is leaning into her and that's why the table gets closer as well, but then the room in the backround stays the same, so there is no depth and it still looks weird. This is why I think it would be cool to have Monika actually lean in over the table to kiss the player and have an actual "kiss mouth" sprite. I know this probably won't happen any time soon as art is needed for this, however I'm trying to get a bit into art and when I'm far enough, I'd like to help with this. I already made some kiss mouth examples, to show how it could look like, even if they aren't that good yet. Thanks for reading!

This might not be possible. RenPy uses 2D spites, and to pull this off would require a 3D engine or extremely clever spritework. So this might be off the table.

You can draw an image so it appears to be 3D. All about depth and perspective. I think the main problem here that I haven't thought about before is sprite packs, since it would require all sprite packs to have extra files for the leaning pose. Well, maybe there is another way to make the zoom in look less odd, but I think the kiss mouth sprite itself is not a bad idea.

The desk is part of Monika's sprite (because part of the sprite is under, part is above the desk).

Is it possible to add a small zoom in on the background as well during the kiss scene? So that it looks more convincing that we are getting closer to her.

Btw, I got the idea for Monika leaning in from this submod. I think the pose where she climbs over the desk looks really nice and a scene like that would bring a bit of fresh air into the mod, since we always see Monika sitting in front of us. I understand though that it's sadly not possible right now.

We can easily add depth to the scene using shaders.

What about darkening the surroundings during the zoom? It would take the attention away from the background and make the player focus more on Monika. I agree that Monika could really use some new facial expression for kissing.
