Consider the nature of our application. Sometimes, it's not easy to determine what exactly an item is (or what it's for/what it does), solely based off its name.
Let me give you an example. Assume you didn't know what a corndog is.
Just based off the item name, what would you have assumed? Would you have thought that this item is dog-related? Or it's corn-related?
Now, given this description:
A sausage (usually a wiener) on a stick that has been coated in a thick layer of cornmeal batter and deep fried.
Would this make it easier for you to understand what the item is/what it's for/what it does?
If you're unconvinced, consider yourself.
Suppose you wished to introduce yourself to someone else. If you only gave them your name, would the other person have any idea of who you are, what you do, what your traits are, etc.?
Or would it be better for you to give them a description of yourself as well, so that they can better understand you?
