The serifs in i
and r
are needed to fill the space that would optherwise open up because these letters have the same space as w
etc. – those gaps make text less easy to read.
While technically no problem we think that the current versions work well.
Should there be more requests in the future (like we had with g
in the past) would consider adding that option.
+1 vote for this feature
I also think a slabless R would add a nice touch to the font, as a stylistic option. I think removing the slab from the i would make the shape too empty, but the R without the slab looks quite nice.
I made an edit in Glyphs for proof of concept: (without fixing spacing etc.)
Please consider adding this as a stylistic set 😄
Defintely inclined to include this in the next version.
Included to newly released 2.011.
Monolisa already allows for a lot of customization regarding some symbols such as 'g'.
I think it should also allow to customize weather we want the letters (specifically lower case r and i) to have an bottom bracket, or not, since personally for me, it is something that is very important in a font of any kind.
I'm attaching example of what i mean. It should be noted that top 'i' only has "half" of the bracket so maybe that could also be an option in the future?![example](https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/34782950/205517516-4b787406-9c3a-44a2-9c4d-6f340f1fb687.png)
