TIDAL Hi-Fi compatibility #95

Closed Batwam closed 9 months ago

Batwam commented 9 months ago

It has been reported on EGO that "tidal-hifi shows up with a duplicate in the mpris-sources list when using the tidal-hifi Tidal client". This issue doesn't appear to have been reported on the Tidal-Hifi github repo.

This is likely to be an issue with Tidal-Hifi itseld. However, opening this issue as placeholder pending further investigation with affected users.

I have just installed the flatpak version and everything appears to work a intended. Awaiting input from any user facing issues to investigate.

If no further report, I'll go ahead and close this in a few days: image

further investigations show that app volume control will not work for this app as its sound stream identifies as chromium (similar behaviour to chrome-based browsers which all identify as chromium): image

issue reported here: https://github.com/Mastermindzh/tidal-hifi/issues/338

In the meantime, the extension behaves as expected and falls back to using the System Volume. Information display, albums, play/pause all work as expected.

Closing this as the user reporting the issue hasn't been in touch. With regards to the volume control, after discussion with the TIDAL Hi-Fi Maintainer, it doesn't appear to be possible to change it from Chromium to Tidal-hifi so volume control for the app itself won't work but the extension falls back to system sound as designed.

I might make a list of the players tested and known compatibility/incompatibility to document this...
