Level 4 Anomaly (I don't know what dotted/undotted means, sorry)
Detection Event:
[Science Ship] has observed a derelict in orbit around [body]. It is of an old and implaceable design, but the hull is more or less intact and [scientist] reports that they are assembling their away team.
Investigate Event:
[Scientist] reports that they were easily able to restore enough power to the ship to investigate, but nothing seems particularly out of the ordinary, nor do logs indicate that anything substantially odd had happened. However the fact that First Officer went to check the reactor room and then ended up walking through a different side door back into the command center was somewhat concerning. After several attempts, the entire away team has finally made it back onto the [ship].
[Scientist] believes that this unnatural geometry may be due to the advanced nature of the recently reactivated reactor and is requesting time to try and stabilise the derelict back into a functional and consistent geometric state but warns that the technology they are observing is theoretical at best by our own standards and that his/her idea to flood the reactor with energy to bring it to full power levels is somewhat risky.
Two options:
"Very well, proceed with the plan" (-300 energy)
"No. We shouldn't meddle in what we don't understand" (+45 influence)
Three Possible Outcomes:
[40% chance] Shortly after infusing the strange reactor with an energy surge, the consoles briefly flickered out before coming back on as full capacity. The ship can easily be added to our complement of science vessels and should perform above our current models even though we cannot yet directly emulate them. [Scientist] has also gained a preliminary understanding of the workings of the ships reactor. ("Phenomenal!", A science ship is added with Tier-3 thrusters, tier-3 hyperdrive, and a zero-point reactor, +1500 physics research and +10% progress towards zero-point reactor tech)
[30% chance] Shortly after the infusion of power, the reactor suffered a catastrophic meltdown, completely destroying both ships before anyone knew what had happened ("Inform the families." [ship] is destroyed along with [scientist] and his/her entire crew)
[30% chance] After the power influx, the away team led by [scientist] went silent. A second away team was sent onboard and took several hours thoroughly searching the ship whilst suffering the same spatial impossibilities as the initial team, but has turned up absolutely no trace of the first team or their equipment. However, before the disappearance a burst transmission of data from the now-gone analysis equipment has helped our understanding of multi-dimensional physics somewhat. ("Tragic", +500 physics research, [Scientist] dies).
