Frequent io socket disconnect #43

User able to change a defense value once, then it seems the socket connection drops as they are unable to get the calculated value to update. Reload of the page fixes it.

Not sure about "frequent", but I've seen that behavior with those defense values before. Can it be repeated? Also, when it's in the broken state, it would be useful to know if the rest of the page fails to update properly as well.

The description here isn't really correct; the socket never disconnects, or has issue. It's something more subtle. I've opened #56 to track the cause of these symptoms.
