What you were trying to do

Surfing in the game options, to optimize the graphics engine, and make it lighter to try Terasology latest stable version.

What actually happened

When the game starts, when you enter the graphics settings, you go back, and then you navigate through the menus, it happens very often that the GUI hangs! disappear the buttons of the options and there remains only the background.

How to reproduce

Starting the game, using the latest version of laungher.
Opening the Game Options.
Disable the graphics options, blur, outline, cloud shadows, vignetting, motion blur
Enabled animation menu.

Note:

It is an option menu animations problem, without this option the game is more stable, but sometimes returns the crash when I click on the video button of the menu settings.
