What will happen in your session?

In this hands-on session, we invite you to tell us everything you wish you could track about your participation in civic life. Using participatory methodologies, we will explore showing the world, or just yourself, the impact you have on everyday issues - like ocean cleanup, air pollution or livestock agriculture. We will talk about using big data sets to show how things aren’t as bad as we think, and we invite you to help us design a way to visualize individual and global impact. We’ll use this session to have ideas and design user journeys and potential features for the free.

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

At Greenpeace, we’re thinking about how we activists show their work. Activism happens in the real world. People take to the streets and at city halls to demand change. Lawyers and lobbyists – not just corporate ones – donate their time and energy fighting for better policies. People show up to events (like Mozfest!) and meet people, collaborate and strive to make the world a better place.

Greenpeace is an organization that aims to enable personal activism. We strive to ensure that activism is rewarded not just by winning campaigns, but by witnessing those who do the work. We hope this session will provide insight to what real world activists need from Greenpeace and an engagement platform.

If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.

post its, A3 paper, markers and a monitor would be great!

Time needed

All weekend, as an installation, exhibit or drop-in session

For time needed, we could also do a 90 min session with this :)

@LauraHilliger and @gaborgalgocz thanks for submitting! Totally optional, if you want you can see if you want to work the theme of the decentralisation space into your presentation https://github.com/KadeMorton/Xenshana

LauraHilliger commented 6 years ago

Yeah, I didn't specifically mention decentralization because of the tight word limits. But basically - we'd love to think about "individual identity and collective culture" in reference to ecological activism and data. And as for thinking about how we pull in Xenshana – Art deco meets the Singularity meets nature - yeah, we got this ;)

KadeMorton commented 6 years ago

@LauraHilliger I suspect there will be one or two groups that you might be interested in talking to and vice versa due to synergies with ideas. The one I'm thinking of hasn't submitted yet but I'll be sure to put you both in touch.

Please change the title to - Actions Matter: Visualizing Impact with Greenpeace. Otherwise all good from our side. Also, we'll need 4 tickets - @comzeradd and our incredible new UX Designer are joining!
