What will happen in your session?

This is an open discussion for artists and other creatives. We will collaboratively answer questions (using post-its) such as:

• How do you get ideas for creative projects?
• How do you figure out what steps are necessary?
• How do you execute the steps?
• How do you identify and fix issues?
• How do you continuously improve?
• How do you know you're done?

We will then cluster the answers and see what patterns emerge and sketch a pipeline/state machine to represent the art process or processes.

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

To open a dialogue/exploration on the processes different artists use, and what we can learn from one another, what we do similarly, what differently. We will perhaps figure out (spoiler alert) that 'agile' processes are not a new thing and have in fact been used in creative fields in some form for a long time.

Hi @carolinux, thank you for your interest and your proposal. Could you explain a bit more how your session would integrate within the Queering MozFest experience (or the Youth Zone), and why you chose these spaces in particular?

Hi @arroway, maybe you can advise on the best space for this proposal. I chose Youth Zone because I am interested in speaking with young, creative people and see how they approach things. I think awareness of how your art-making-machine works is particularly useful to learn early on (and also, that you can make changes to this machine).

I intended to have Youth Zone as primary and Queering as secondary, but this was not possible in the submission form. Queering fits imo on a meta level, in the sense of having a non normative apporach - we spend so much time fine tuning our code-making-machines, when the same ideas could be applied to other fields. I also would like to encourage queer people to attend.

Hi @carolinux, thanks for the details. The plan with the Queering MozFest experience is to embed sessions into other spaces as much as possible, so I think the Youth Zone as the primary zone would make sense, particularly since it was your first choice. In addition to this, I will track your proposal as part of the Queering Experience. Ping @MozillaFestival/2018-youth-zone-wranglers : I'm manually re-assigning this session to your milestone.
