What will happen in your session?

I speak on different experiences about myself and the journey I went through as a black cosplayer experiencing racism, discrimination, harassment because of my skin tone. Other statements from other Black Cosplayers and talk about solutions and how it can be better as a community to spread positivity. For future black cosplayers.

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

To make people aware of the issues with Black Cosplay, To make people understand what cosplay is and an experience of a black cosplayer. To give hope to all cosplayers and give solutions on how to grow as a community.

If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.

Microphone Slideshow program for photos and videos, booth so I can set up cosplay photos and let them touch photos and examine them.

@KrissyVictory Thanks for the submission! Totally optional but feel free to check out the decentralisation theme this year, might fit well with cosplay https://github.com/KadeMorton/Xenshana You can present in any zone and still interact with the other zones as well so don't worry about changing the zone you picked. If you want to add presenters feel free to reply to this thread to add them.

@KrissyVictory to confirm, you are suggesting this session would work better as a "gallery"? (Defined as "contains interactive exhibits, installations, games, stalls designed for 1:1 self driven experience and emergent activities. Often these experiences or activities are not scheduled time blocks but take place over the day or weekend allowing access and interaction at any time. The Gallery can provide context for upcoming sessions, and finished prototypes from sessions for that relevant Space.").

Or would this work better as a programmed in discussion/talk?

Finally, just to double check, is this session being delivered by a young person or an adult? (always rather had to tell)

Well I thought that if it’s a weekend gallery event I could explain issues while showcasing black Cosplay via media and YouTube videos and statements from cosplayers that I’m interviewing. Along with my Cosplay banner and photos of my work and my partner to show the hard work and effort that goes into it. I can also be in Cosplay for these Events! But also I could just do a session for a weekend doing this in a time block whatever truly works for you guys I’m okay with!! It’s whatever you guys really need more of!

I’m very flexible and can do either one!!

Young people connect more with Cosplay but I would say it works with both but I am certain more young people know about Cosplay.
