Hey @alexhemming. The session looks great. One thing to add is unfortunately we are unable to provide any laptops for sessions. We will have some Raspberry Pi labs available but as of right now, no laptop labs. It does look like the activity might work fine on a Raspberry Pi web browser, your thoughts? Also, can I confirm if this session is being ran by a young person or an adult?
Hi,
Thanks 😄 Not a problem on the laptop front, the activity should work fine as long as there is internet access and a keyboard. Also, we can bring some laptops with us from the college if needed.
I'd be the primary facilitator to help organize/prep (I'm an adult and computer science teacher) but if we were invited to run the session at mozfest, I was planning on inviting some of our students to come help run it (they're between 16 to 18).

@alexhemming - I like the playful nature of the session! Do you see opportunities to connect to the festival theme or particular Internet health issues?
I could work with my student facilitators to redevelop the puzzles so that they are relevant to the theme of internet health.

What will happen in your session?
Participants will work in teams, with each team being given a mysterious locked box. The team needs to work collaboratively to open their locked box by working out the lock combination, through solving a series of puzzles within a set time frame.
Each puzzle has been designed to challenge the team against five core competencies: curiosity, rigour, creativity, collaboration and resilience.
Once the challenge has been completed, the participants with be provided with templates and materials the can take away with them to create their own locked box puzzle.

What is the goal or outcome of your session?
The goal of this session is to get young people working collaboratively to solve puzzles set to challenge their curiosity, rigour, creativity and resilience.
Participants will experience working as a team and taking on different roles to help them solve the puzzles. They will be able to network, share ideas with each other and be inspired to work together after the workshop to create their own locked box challenges.
Also everyone will have fun!
If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.
Would be useful to have access to a projector for the facilitator. Each team will need to have access to 1 laptop with internet access, as some puzzles require the use of a keyboard and searching the world wide web for clues. Maximum of 10 laptops required for the session. If this is a problem we could bring some laptops with us to the session ourselves.
