What will happen in your session?

We want to update each other on how the global debate about net neutrality and internet measurement is progressing. With experts from diverse world regions we want to starts a discussion on how to tackle the global problem of network discrimination. Our particular focus is towards data driven approaches and measurement software to enable a factual debate about these issues. With the increased availability of Deep Packet Inspection equipment and policy shifts around the monetisation of telecommunication meta data we also want to explore privacy implications of new business models in the telecom sector.

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

We all learn new things from the participants of Mozfest. We can share new approaches about the ongoing policy debates around network discrimination as well as data-driven solutions on how to measure the health of the internet.

@socialhack @georgiamoon I was wondering if you could take me through the workshop elements of this submission? We are trying to steer clear of lectures.

Hi @KadeMorton ,

the sessions aims at a peer education between participants. We don't intend for a top down education model. There will be an introduction by the three speakers from the three regions (India, USA, EU), but the "meat" of the discussion should come from the participants and their experiences from their regions and backgrounds.

My inspiration comes from a session we did during the Wikimania in Cape Town on copyright which gave a really interesting worldwide overview.

Best, Thomas
