What will happen in your session?

Since some years, mobile became our best friend. We carry all around, we completely rely upon and we are dependents - and sometimes addicted! So in this session we'll focus in the 2 main asppects we consider the most worrying: high radiation exposure in our body and the massive surveillance.

We'll begin this workshop with a short lecture about privacy, security, mass surveillance, followed for discussion: the danger live in our pockets, how can we do minimize the insecurity?

Participants will make their own signal blocking Faraday Cage using the cheapest and fastest solutions to wrap the phone to kill any radiation, cut off the wireless connection, gps, to block the sound record...

What is the goal or outcome of your session?

Without the knowledge of most users, all your movements can and will be followed, tracked, even if the mobile is turn off, can be accessed remotely i.e. hacked, mobile network providers store location-related data, last but not least, our health: the body absorbs higher levels of microwave radiation from a phone, we actually use them directly next to the body, in a pocket, tucked in a bra, we sleep with it under the pillow or right next to bed.

The goals is to awareness and find ways to prevent radiation health risks, the invasive insane surveillance and, why not, encouraging others to turn off their phones and helps jump start new etiquette for our digital world.

If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.
