Thanks for the proposal @HBCompass. Do you need 90 minutes for this, or do you think you could squash it into 60 if needed?
Hi @jontutcher. We can do a lot with 60 minutes, so that would work just fine.
Thank you for taking the time to submit a session to MozFest.
Due to the high level of submissions, we’re unable to accept all proposals and unfortunately, your session was not part of the final group.
You'll receive a follow up email from us in the next few days.

What will happen in your session?
This session will foster frank and honest discussion and ideation about where news organizations, nonprofits, startups and politics have fallen short in adequately serving people experiencing poverty. We can do better by those who have been historically ignored as creators, audience members, civic participants, consumers or donors.
Through discussion, analysis and collaboration, the group will work toward designing respectful pathways for organizations to better serve people experiencing poverty and create equitable opportunities for participation and leadership in community and civic life.
During the session, we’ll break this problem into 4 segments. Identifying the existing broad problems Identifying opportunities that exist Identifying the gap between the status quo and those opportunities Brainstorming paths to navigate and close those gaps
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
We will create pathways and guides that can help newsrooms, nonprofits, startups, political organizations and government entities effectively and respectfully include and consider people experiencing economic hardship as people as equally deserving of time, consideration and quality information as all other members of the public. This session is also a push to keep this conversation moving forward and to bring together people to participate in addressing the damaging disparities in the distributions and access of quality information.
If your session requires additional materials or electronic equipment, please outline your needs.
This session is discussion, sketching and writing-based. No artistic skills needed: just enthusiastic interest in the topic.
