Hi, happy to answer any questions about this session! :)
I know the Data & You theme doesn't really come through in my proposal, but curious how you see that theme relating to young creators / digital artists -- and how I could better align.
Although this hands-on session is aimed at kids, I'm planing to provide a list of resources and a lesson outline that would be useful for educators that want to use this in their classroom.
@no-carrier, thank you for your question. Maybe you could look at this as an opportunity to teach participants how computers store and use data in things like the layers of a .gif or between an HTML page a stylesheet with keyframes? You might also think of non-personally identifiable data that could be animated as data viz between pages or layers?
@no-carrier, would you please let us know if you would be able to attend MozFest without a stipend?
Good morning! Looks like I'm going to pass on MozFest this year, but thanks for reaching out.

Thank you for the update, @no-carrier!
Thank you for taking the time to submit a session to MozFest.
Due to the high level of submissions, we’re unable to accept all proposals and unfortunately, your session was not part of the final group.
You'll receive a follow up email from us in the next few days.

What will happen in your session?
In this session, we’ll explore the principles of animation for creating stories and characters that move. We’ll start with flip books to get at the concepts of frames, frame rate, and different kinds of motion. Kids will create collaborative quick animations, and share them together. We’ll demo some old-school animation tools like zooetropes and thaumatropes, and also show some new digital tools for building animations, from GIF builders to stop motion software, to coding programs like Processing.
What is the goal or outcome of your session?
Participants will learn how animation works in physical spaces, and then see how these principles apply in the digital world. Each participant will make an animation.
